NHS Ayrshire & Arran is looking for a non-executive member to join its board

Are you interested in a challenging and rewarding role which will have a lasting impact on the delivery of healthcare across Ayrshire and Arran? If so, becoming a non-executive member of Ayrshire and Arran NHS Board could be just for you. You do not need to be a health expert or have previous experience of being on a Board. We want to hear from people with a diverse range of skills, backgrounds and knowledge. For this role in particular, we are looking for someone with people management experience.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran is looking for a non-executive member to join its Board. The Board isn’t involved in the day to day running of the organisation, but provides leadership, guidance and direction. The successful candidate is expected to take up post in December 2024, with a date to be agreed and confirmed by the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care.

Being a non-executive Board member shows your ongoing commitment and at times will require a degree of flexibility subject to the Board’s ongoing business needs. While the time commitment will vary week to week, the role will take up on average around eight hours per week and will be a mix of daytime Board meetings, committee meetings, reading documents and attending stakeholder events.

Linda Semple, Interim Chair of Ayrshire and Arran NHS Board, commented: “Ayrshire and Arran NHS Board is delighted to offer this opportunity to welcome a new non-executive member to the Board. This is a valuable role and will be best suited to someone with a keen interest in becoming more involved in decision making and in ensuring the accountability of the executive Board members. I would encourage anyone who has a strong desire to make a difference to consider applying.”

Members of the public who are interested in the role can find out more at one of our online information sessions with Linda Semple, Interim Chair:
