If you’re experiencing suicidal thoughts or thinking about suicide, it’s important to know that you are not alone.

There is practical support and advice available. These free helplines are here to help. If you or someone else needs urgent help now, please call 999.

NHS 24 

NHS 24 is open to all and operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

  • Phone 111 and choose the Mental Health option

Samaritans 

Samaritans is open to all and operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Breathing Space 

Breathing Space is for everyone.

Opening times:

  • Monday to Thursday, from 6pm to 2am
  • Friday, 6pm to Monday, 6am

Childline 

Childline is for young people under 19. It’s open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM)

Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is for men. It’s open from 5pm until midnight, every day.

Switchboard LGBT+ 

Switchboard LGBT+ is for anyone who identifies as LGBT+. It’s open from 10am to 10pm, every day. 

Hopeline247

Hopeline247 is for anyone aged 35 and under. It’s open 24 hours, every day.
