NHS Ayrshire & Arran is delighted to host one of 10 National Treatment Centres across Scotland.
The National Treatment Centre (NTC) Programme is an investment by the Scottish Government to support elective care across Scotland. In Ayrshire and Arran, our National Treatment Centre will focus on our orthopaedic patients in the first instance and will aim to treat:
- 800 patients a year who need hip or knee replacements;
- 1200 patients who require a day case orthopaedic procedure; and
- 700 orthopaedic patients who need minor procedures requiring local anaesthetic.
NHS Ayrshire & Arran has purchased Carrick Glen Hospital in Ayr which will be remodelled and extended before opening for patient care. The new facility will have two theatres and an enhanced treatment room. There will also be 11 inpatient beds.
