Dr Crawford McGuffie qualified from Glasgow University and undertook his first medical job in Ayrshire in 1989.
He trained in the West of Scotland before being appointed as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine in Ayrshire in 2002. He became Associate Medical Director in 2008 and Medical Director in 2020.
Over the last 6 years he has also worked with Healthcare Improvement Scotland as the National Clinical Lead for Hospital Standardised Mortality. Crawford is proud of the fact that he has been a lifelong citizen of Ayrshire and Arran and continues to work in the Emergency Department on a part time basis.
