Ewing Hope was appointed to the NHS Ayrshire & Arran Board as Employee Director on 1 October 2019 in his capacity as the elected Chair of Staff Side.
Ewing started working in the mining industry in 1976 and continued to work there until 1988 when he was forced to retire due to an industrial injury. Ewing retrained as a Chef and Hotel Manager from 1988 until 1991 and from 1991 till 2001 Ewing took up the position of Head Chef and General Manager in a local Hotel in Cumnock. Ewing joined the health service in 2001 as a Cook at Ayr Hospital where he worked till 2005 and then he became involved in Agenda for Change. When that project ended Ewing took up the role of Partnership Facilitator from 2009 until 2019. Ewing first joint a Trade Union when he entered the mining industry and he has continued his union membership and became active in 1979 until present day. During that time he has held several offices ocally, regionally and nationally.
Ewing is a member of the Performance Governance Committee and Staff Governance Committee (as vice chair), the Endowment Committee and Remuneration Committee. He is also a NHS Non-Executive member of the South Ayrshire Integration Joint Board.
