Crosshouse Children’s Fund is delighted to announce the successful transformation of the gardens at the Ayrshire Maternity Unit within the University Hospital Crosshouse Campus. The garden spaces have been renovated, providing a beautiful and tranquil environment for patients and staff to enjoy.
The main garden transformation was made possible by a generous donor who dedicated funds to enhance the experiences of patients and their families in the neonatal unit. This generous contribution has allowed for the refurbishment of the garden space that will benefit countless families and staff members for years to come.
The smaller courtyard area of the maternity unit received substantial support from Ardagh Glass Packaging in Irvine. Not only did Ardagh Glass Packaging provide crucial funding, but their team also contributed by volunteering hands-on support during the revamp.
Crosshouse Children’s Fund extends its gratitude to Brick & Steel, the contractors who brought the new garden to life, in collaboration with Kilmarnock-based Occam Architecture.
“Thanks to the incredible support from Ardagh Glass Packaging and our donor, these spaces have been completely transformed. Our environment has a powerful impact on our wellbeing. For patients who have to spend time in hospital during pregnancy or postnatally, having an outdoor space for some fresh air and quiet reflection will be so beneficial,” said Kirsten Watson, CEO of Crosshouse Children’s Fund.
The new garden spaces are designed to offer a place of peace, being surrounded by nature, within the busy hospital environment. These improvements reflect Crosshouse Children’s Fund’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the hospital experience for young patients, their families, and NHS staff across Ayrshire and Arran.
