Drop-in for COVID-19 spring booster vaccines in Ayrshire

  • by NHSAAA
Don't let your protection fade

NHS Ayrshire & Arran will be offering coronavirus vaccinations to those eligible through the Spring Programme, who have not yet been vaccinated for whatever reason, on a drop-in basis at community venues around Ayrshire from Monday 10 June 2024.

Since the beginning of April the spring booster programme has offered vaccines to eligible groups in Ayrshire by appointment or visits in the case of care homes and housebound patients. Now those who may have missed their appointment and still wish to have a booster vaccination to top up their protection against COVID-19 can attend a mass vaccination clinic without an appointment. The drop-in is open to the following groups:

  • everyone aged 75 years and over on 30 June 2024 (that is, born on or before 30 June 1949); and
  • people aged 12 years and over (by 31 March 2024) who have a weakened immune system.

Those aged 6 months to 11 years with a weakened immune system are also eligible through the spring booster programme. If you have a child in this group who has not yet been vaccinated since the programme began on 2 April, you will still need an appointment to attend and cannot drop-in.  Paediatric appointments should be booked by calling the local helpline on 01563 826540.

The details of upcoming drop-in clinics available in Ayrshire are published on our website here: https://www.nhsaaa.net/spring-covid-19-vaccination-drop-in-clinics/

NHS Ayrshire & Arran Public Health Director Lynne McNiven said:

“Our vaccination teams are delighted to welcome patients back to COVID-19 vaccine clinics on a drop-in basis. If you are due a spring booster dose to top up your protection, now is the time to come forward. Vaccination remains our best protection against serious coronavirus illness, so I’d encourage everyone to take the vaccines they are offered.

“If you’d prefer to make an appointment you can do so either by using the national online booking portal https://vacs.nhs.scot/csp or by calling the helpline on 0800 030 8013 to arrange.”
