Clinics offering winter vaccines to those eligible on the Isle of Arran are continuing this September.
Both flu and COVID-19 vaccines will be offered to people most vulnerable to illness and, where possible, administered at the same time. Vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself and we strongly encourage those eligible to take up the vaccination offer when it comes. Vaccinators are also arranging to visit housebound patients in their own home, as well as offering winter vaccinations to care home residents and staff.
Health and Social Care Workers, who are eligible for seasonal flu and COVID-19 (frontline staff only), should follow advice from their place of work regarding local vaccination opportunities.
NHS Ayrshire & Arran Director of Public Health Lynne McNiven said:
“Our Mass Vaccination Service has already hosted a number of winter vaccination clinics on the island. These went smoothly and were well attended by local people who were invited to come forward.
“Both the flu and COVID-19 viruses are always changing and getting vaccinated each year is the best way to stay protected for the whole winter season. We strongly recommend those eligible to take up the offer when it comes.
“Please look out for your invite letter in a white NHS envelope, or check for text messages or emails if you have indicated a digital communication preference. Remember, if you can’t attend your appointment for whatever reason, please follow the instructions given to reschedule.”
