NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s neonatal unit has received generous donations from two local families.
Ryan and Emma from Ayr sold football scratch cards to family and friends and raised a staggering £500 after their son, Emry spent his first month in the world in the unit.
Emma said: “We are so thankful for the support and care given to our son and of course to us as a family by the staff. We hope the money raised will be of benefit to other babies and families who stay at the neonatal unit.”
The unit also received another donation from Kirsty Kirkland from Ayr, who presented the ward with a cheque for £2,750 after holding a psychic evening at Glenburn Miners Club.
Kirsty added, “I am so very grateful to the staff and the care they provided to my daughter, Amelia during her short stay.
“Everyone had a fabulous night and I am delighted to present this cheque to the unit.”
Samantha Fredriksen-Freer, Clinical Nurse Manager in the Neonatal Unit and Paediatric Ward added, “The staff of the Neonatal Unit would like to thank both families for their generous donations and extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to help raise money for the unit.
“We want to provide as comfortable an experience as possible for the families and parents of our tiny inpatients. It is thanks to people like Ryan, Emma and Kirsty, and to those who donate that help us to continue to do this now and for our future families.
“It was wonderful to see both families again and to see the little ones doing so well.”
