Staff at the Ayrshire Maternity Unit at University Hospital Crosshouse have welcomed their first baby of 2025. After a busy night with four new-borns arriving between 11:30pm and midnight, it was little Caleb Guthrie who made an appearance at 1.45am to become Ayrshire’s first arrival of 2025.

Caleb, weighing 3880g, is a son for Jade and John Guthrie from Kilwinning in North Ayrshire, who have welcomed their first child.

Huge congratulations to all the family!

Three other families have welcomed new additions in the early hours of 1 January 2025.

At 2:44am, Hayley Barclay and Rhian Baird from Irvine welcomed a son (yet to be named). Weighing 3935g, he is a little brother for sister Riley age two.

Next to arrive was a (yet to be named) baby boy for Jane and Toby Lindo from Fairlie, who made his way into the world at 3.22am weighing 3543g.
