Ayrshire Urgent Care Service (AUCS)

Our new out-of-hours service brings together the skills, expertise and capacity of existing services so patients can access the right person, with the right skills at the right time.

The Ayrshire Urgent Care Service brings together a number of existing services into one ‘urgent care hub’, operating from the Lister Centre at University Hospital Crosshouse. This centre is supported by the existing two urgent care centres at University Hospital Ayr and Ayrshire Central Hospital, and the home visiting service. Services based at the centre will include:

  • Ayrshire Doctors On Call (ADOC);
  • Out-of-hours district nursing service;
  • Crisis Resolution Team;
  • Out-of-hours social work; and
  • East Ayrshire overnight emergency response personal carers.

Redesigning these services will mean that our out-of-hours services are sustainable and can meet the demands of our population now, and into the future. It also means that health and social care services are integrated, providing a more joined-up service for patients.

Members of the public should continue to NHS24 on 111 or social work on 0800 328 7758 for out-of-hours advice or support.

For a speedy recovery, taking care of yourself is often the best option when you have a minor illness or injury. Your community pharmacist and NHS inform (www.nhsinform.scot) can provide advice and information on a range of conditions.

You can also get support from:

  • Breathing Space Scotland (www.breathingspace.scot) the free, confidential, telephone service for anyone experiencing low mood, depression or anxiety.
  • Care Information Scotland (http://www.careinfoscotland.scot/) provides advice if you are looking after someone, need care yourself or are planning for your future care needs.

Please note calls to NHS Ayrshire & Arran may be recorded.
