Safe Access Zones are in place everywhere that abortion services are provided in Scotland from 24 September 2024.
Within a Safe Access Zone, it’s illegal to try to influence, harass, or prevent anyone from accessing or providing abortion services.
There are 30 safe access zones across Scotland.
Safe Access Zones cover:
- the hospital or clinic where abortion services are provided
- the public area of any grounds of the hospital or clinic, and
- any public areas within 200 metres of the boundary of the grounds (if there are any, or from the premises if not)
