Working week

The standard fulltime working week in NHSScotland is 37 hours / pro-rata for part time (for non-medical and nonexecutive and senior grade staff) and this is shorter than any other NHS system within the United Kingdom.

Generous annual leave entitlement

All non-medical staff are entitled to a minimum of 27 days annual leave, increasing to 29 days after five years’ service and 33 days after 10 years service, plus eight public holidays per annum. This figure is pro rata for staff working part time (leave arrangements for medical staff are subject to their own distinct terms and conditions).

Pension scheme

All new employees are automatically enrolled in the NHS (Scotland) Superannuation Scheme, one of the UKs best pension schemes, or if you are an existing member your membership will continue.  Further detail on the benefits of the pension scheme can be found here NHS | SPPA (pensions.gov.scot)

Work-life balance

We understand the importance of a good work-life balance and we offer flexiblility to suit your personal circumstances wherever possible. We also recognise that employees may need to be absent from work from time to time to support their home lives and have have a host of  policies in place to support employees including: flexible working; new parent support; parental leave; adoption and maternity leave.
