Pathways to vaccination

Winter Vaccine Programme – Health and social care workers

All NHS staff (including independent contractors, students and volunteers) will be able to get their winter 2025 seasonal flu vaccination in a number of settings, depending on where you work and the type of role you have.

These settings include:

  • In Ayrshire Central Hospital (ACH), University Hospital Ayr (UHA), University Hospital Crosshouse (UHC) and Woodland View wards, delivered by Public Health’s Vaccination Service, alongside peer vaccination in some areas.
  • At scheduled drop-in sessions in ACH, UHA and UHC (please check AthenA page where details will be updated regularly), delivered by Public Health’s Vaccination Service.
  • In community hospitals (including Biggart and EACH), delivered by peer vaccinators.
  • At Mass Vaccination Centres (MVCs) in community venues around Ayrshire, delivered by the Mass Vaccination Service.
  • At pop-up vaccination clinics at workplaces, including the Ayrshire Hospice, Care Homes and Care at Home worker hubs.
  • At participating Community Pharmacies.

Vaccinations will be given to eligible H&SCWs in the above settings from Monday 15 September onwards.

You will not need to make an appointment. Vaccinations will be offered across a number of NHS Ayrshire & Arran sites for H&SCWs, with vaccinators hosting drop-in clinics, visiting wards and delivering peer immunisation.  Information regarding these opportunities will be shared in regular staff communications including Daily digest and eNews, in staff huddles, through line managers and published on the Public Health AthenA page. Please note this intranet link is only available to NHS Ayrshire & Arran staff. H&SCWs working in the community without access to AthenA can view upcoming flu vaccination opportunities here.

There is also the option for staff to attend a drop-in clinic at a local mass vaccination clinic venue.  Alternatively, if eligible H&SCWs do wish to make an appointment at a community clinic they can do so by telephoning 0800 030 8013 or through the national booking portal https://www.nhsinform.scot/healthy-living/immunisation/flu-vaccine/.
